Banking cloud and data
Cloud migration and reporting pipelines for a bank
A large bank is moving its applications onto AWS, and one of its transactional banking divisions needed clearer, more reliable reporting on its channels. I worked on both.
The client, division and system names are withheld.
Cloud migration
- Automated builds and releases with GitHub Actions for CI and Octopus Deploy pipelines for controlled releases.
- Monitored and debugged Kubernetes workloads in Lens: inspecting pods, reading logs and tracking resource use to keep applications stable.
- Integrated Azure Active Directory Single Sign-On with OIDC authentication flows, so users get secure access across applications with one sign-in.
- Worked with cross-functional teams on resilient, cloud-native designs using infrastructure-as-code, container orchestration and automated deployments.
Data pipeline
- Designed an ETL pipeline on S3, triggers, Glue jobs, the Glue Data Catalog and Athena to streamline how channel data reaches the dashboards.
- Documented the data flow and VPC-based network security in Lucidchart diagrams for the client team.
- Weighed cost against performance at each stage so the pipeline fits the budget it runs on.
Dashboards
- Built interactive Power BI dashboards that give the division clearer visibility of its channels for day-to-day decisions.
- Extracted data from a source system and cleaned it with business rules in Power Query.
- Designed the supporting data model for efficient reporting, and aligned each dashboard with stakeholders' operational and strategic needs.
Building the capability
Alongside client work, I lead the set-up of my studio's internal AWS cloud capability: the business case, the roadmap and how we position it for client initiatives. I earned the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification in 2026.
